Shavonne Gibson

Dr. Shavonne Gibson serves as the Chief Professional Learning Officer at Relay Graduate School of Education, where she leads national efforts in training, coaching, and professional development for district and school leaders, as well as teachers.


A lifelong educator, Dr. Gibson has held a range of leadership roles, including teacher, assistant principal, principal, managing director of schools/principal supervisor, and Assistant State Superintendent at the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) in Washington, DC. Her career reflects a deep commitment to advancing equity, strengthening instructional leadership, and improving outcomes for students.


She earned her doctorate in Learning and Organizational Change from Baylor University. Her research interests include urban education, teacher retention, and gifted and talented education.


Dr. Gibson resides in Prince George’s County, Maryland, with her husband and two sons.
