Jehron Petty is the Founder and CEO of ColorStack, a nonprofit that seeks to increase the retention and success of Black and Latinx college Computer Science students. Under his leadership, ColorStack has grown its membership to over 9,000 Black and Latinx Computer Science students nationwide, raised over $5 million, and expanded its staff to 8 full-time employees.
Jehron was born on the beautiful island of St. Thomas, USVI, and raised on Long Island, NY. His journey into tech and entrepreneurship began at the age of 16 when he started his first business fixing phone screens, laptops, and customizing iPhones. While studying Computer Science at Cornell University, he served as the Product Lead at Cornell App Development, co-founded Black Entrepreneurs in Training, and was the Co-President of Underrepresented Minorities in Computing (URMC), which helped triple Black and Latinx CS enrollment over his latter 3 years at Cornell. He also interned at Google and Two Sigma as both a Software Engineering and Product Manager. Upon graduating from Cornell, he turned down a full-time Product Manager position at Google to start ColorStack instead and hasn't looked back since.
On any given day, you can find him either working on ColorStack, at the pickleball court, playing video games, or on a Delta flight.
